NATIONAL SPACE DAY CELEBRATIONS

UL Space Club conducted the National Space Day Celebrations at NIT Calicut in collaboration with NIT Calicut on 23 August 2024. The session was inaugurated by Dr G Levin, CEO of KSpace- Kerala Space Park. The program consisted of various sessions including panel discussions.
While the whole of India celebrated the first anniversary of Chandrayaan-3, our National Space Day celebration was held at NIT Calicut as a single-day eventful program. Almost hundreds of students were present for the camp. The first half of the day was filled with panel discussions and expert talks, while the second half focused on a sky safari.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Biju Prasad, Group Director of VSSC, ISRO, and the chief guest was Er. G. Lewin, CEO of K-Space at the Kerala Space Park. Both of their talks were quite intriguing and fascinating for the students. An exciting panel discussion was held on the topic “Entrepreneurial Opportunities in the Space Sector,” which sparked interest among the students. The panel consisted of Dr. Biju Prasad, Er. G. Lewin, Dr. Muhammed Shahin (Head of the Department of Physics, University of Calicut), Dr. M.K. Ravi Varma (Dean of Alumni and International Affairs, NIT Calicut), and Ajayan Kavungal (Chairman of Calicut Innovation and Technology Initiative & Mentor at Kerala Startup Mission).
During the sky safari session, there were two programs, including an interesting talk by Surendran Punnasseri (Amateur Astronomer and sky safari mentor). Also a student presentation including top astrophotographs from sky safari community.
